When we struggle, how often are we struggling against something …

When we struggle, how often are we struggling against something old? Something from our past, even a long time ago? Most of us think we are done with that old pain, but a lot of the time, we are not.

How do you get past a devastating hurt? No one really teaches us how, so we don’t. As time goes on, the same issue keeps coming up, the same theme reappears. Whether it is insecurity or trust issues, you can see it repeat itself in your life.

Keep facing it.

Know that you can truly get past it. In order to completely overcome it, you have to be open to how your negative feelings are keeping it alive. Forgiveness of yourself or someone else also needs to happen.

If you keep the outcome that you want as your focus, you will find a way to move past it in a healthy manner.

One of the most devastating things to carry around is …

One of the most devastating things to carry around is anger and hate. It is easy to notice those who are carrying that kind of pain. But it is a painful thing to see and watch, regardless of the reasons why. So many things happen that are just not fair, but what is even worse is that there are those who never break through to the other side of forgiveness.

One must realize the pain we cause ourselves by blaming and justifying our pain. Staying a victim of circumstance only holds you back from your own good fortune.

Do whatever is necessary for you to cope effectively with the situation, so you can truly move forward. No one ever escapes unfairness as it is a piece that is valuable to learning and experiencing life. But it does not need to hinder your happiness and growth.

Sometimes, in order to get what we want, we must …

Sometimes, in order to get what we want, we must go beyond our comfort level. When exploring desires or goals, we may need to try new things to get what we want. It is necessary to change old patterns as well, otherwise nothing changes at all.

That is the difficult part, recognizing what needs to be done in the first place and then, being brave enough to take action.

Don’t let failure stop you. Just because the first new move you make doesn’t work out, don’t give up. Gather yourself and plan together and try again. Remember to keep your focus on what you are wanting, and not the lack of it.

I hear people talk a lot, about how their relationship …

I hear people talk a lot, about how their relationship ” used to be”, how it was in the beginning, and how it is not like that now. Maybe it is easy for me to say, as my relationship is at the beginning, but does it really have to change that much? I don’t think so.

When we fall in love, we are only focused on the good things we like about that person and we are really accepting of their ” not so fine” qualities. Why do we lose that focus? Because we feel negative about the relationship or even about something else that has nothing to do with it. As we know, you get more of what you focus on, whether you want it or not.

I promised myself a long time ago that I would remember this in my next relationship. I would focus more on what led us together than our differences. I would be more accepting of who he is totally and not get stuck in a negative place for very long.

It can be challenging sometimes when I do not feel as well as I would like, but I am now conscious of it most of the time. That alone has already improved my relationships, not with just Sheldon, but everyone else as well.

Isn’t life really about feeling good and wanting to feel good? It is a common desire for all of us. Stay focused on the love that got you there and watch your life get better.

Six years ago today, was the day that altered my …

Six years ago today, was the day that altered my life in every way imaginable. The attack only lasted about 20 or so minutes. A short amount of time, but with devastating long- term effects.

Six years to recover seems like a long time to me, but knowing how much healing needed to happen, six years is acceptable. I know I will probably always be dealing with some physical issue now that I have had my face transplant. I am ok with that, I made a conscious choice when I made that decision.

I truly have overcome so much and I sometimes need to remember that. I no longer live every day with that event weighing heavy on me and I do appreciate that.

I want to continue on this path of happiness that I have created for myself. I have a great life that I also want to continue to share with others as well.

Here’s to forward movement !

There are just so many things that we want and …

There are just so many things that we want and with that, it can be difficult to accept things that don’t seem perfect. But perfect does not exist for any length of time. I have had a perfect time or situation, but it is never long lasting.

That is why waiting for the negative things to pass to see what positive things can come from it is my saving grace. That is how life flows. I can see this now in my life and remembering it helps me to refocus my attention on the better things to come.

It is easy to get caught up in negative cycles. Being patient for those times to pass makes those times more tolerable for me. Plus, things are never just bad, there is always something to be grateful and happy about.

Occasionally, I do let fear get the best of me. …

Occasionally, I do let fear get the best of me. When that happens, I allow negative thoughts to raise amuck in my head. It then causes me to start making excuses of why something is not going to work out, or I convince myself to take a path that I know I do not want, but is safer.

I can now recognize this and start to curb my thoughts towards not believing the fear. Still, it is difficult. It takes confidence and practice. My happiness has grown ten-fold in the last 5 years, so it is sometimes easy to remember how much better I feel.

Fear is my excuse when I am not feeling strong enough to take that risk that I know, I will be better for.

I have had several opportunities, in my relatively short 45 …

I have had several opportunities, in my relatively short 45 years, to contemplate my leaving of this planet. Each time, I have felt it was not my time to go. That makes me wonder, when my time does come, I will know that too, right?

The best thing about going through that kind of experience is it gives you another perspective to think about. After being really scared and not wanting to die, not this way, I really started to appreciate the life I had. I realized that I could tap into that part of me that was responsible for my survival. That is where the power really is.

If I get down about certain things that do not seem to be working out the way I would like, I remember all the twists and turns my life has taken and I go with my knowledge that all really is well, no matter what.

There are times, for all of us, when life seems …

There are times, for all of us, when life seems very overwhelming and difficult. At these times, it seems to be as difficult to stay in the moment and not let your thoughts carry you back to the negative space.

I remember one of the first times I tried to “stay in the moment” when I was overwhelmed and upset. I was successful for just that, a moment! But over time, I got good at shifting my thoughts toward the more positive ones. In the case of being really upset or annoyed, I would have to just stop thinking about the subject all together .

One helpful thought for me has always been, “I am not going to think that this is extremely important in a month or so”. Another is learning what I can from the situation. If it is happening to me, then there is a reason. This helps me not to blame others.

Come up with your own way to deal with the negative situations. Over time it starts to change you for the better and brings out your higher self. It also allows you to move forward more easily.

There was a time, a few years back, when I …

There was a time, a few years back, when I started working on changing my life starting with my head. I no longer wanted negative thoughts to run my emotions and decisions.

I took one subject at a time.

For example, I wanted to be able stop blaming life for my hardships and truly believed this was possible. Even though I could not fully understand why terrible things happened, I thought there must be some way I could understand more.

I searched for my own philosophy, what I really believed about why I was here in this world and how life really worked. It is not something I share with most people because I think we all need to discover what works for them. What works for me, doesn’t necessarily work for others.

To start, all you have to do is be more aware of what you want to find and become more conscious. Staying positive makes the journey a lot more fun and successful.
